Day 350: Earthquake!

I had a hectic day today...conference call at 11, lunch meeting at noon, and picking my parents up from the airport by 2:30.  I had a quick 15 minutes between lunch and leaving for the airport, so I went home for a bit.  I was sitting in my kitchen when things started rumbling.  It started out as soft rumbling, then louder and stronger, and then the house was shaking enough that I was scared things were going to start caving in on me!  So I ran outside and watched and waited.  Things slowed down quickly enough, but it was seriously frightening.  Little did I know I'd just experienced an earthquake. Since I've never felt one before, I thought it was an explosion of some sort. My coworker in New Haven texted me to see if I was okay, and he told me they'd even felt it up there.

Day 293: Double egg!

The weirdest thing happened this morning.  S was making A an egg for lunch, and he found a second little egg inside the first egg!  So bizarre.  I looked it up online and it sounds like it's a pretty rare occurrence.

Day 241: Turkeys!

Hello, what are you doing there?  We took a drive after getting A from day care, and we came across these two.  Turkeys have been spotted around our area recently; one woman from a neighboring town was in a serious car accident while trying to avoid a turkey on the freeway.

Day 221: Triangular bread

We decided to make soup and get some bread from our local market...they have this brand of bread that is very nice but oddly shaped.

Day 205: Strangers, and yet not strangers

One thing we really noticed in India is that everyone is happy and even wants to pick up your baby, even if you are a complete stranger.  This was one of the hotel staff happily taking A around the lobby and even attempting to give him a lollipop. Luckily, A was cool with it.

Day 171: Spooky

This is actually a toy that my sister gave Anand...it's a glow worm, I think.  This photo makes it look a lot scarier than it really is.

Day 170: Light

We went out to dinner, and there were these little LED candles on the tables.  Here is my attempt to take a picture of one.

Day 17: Wow!

Today, when I got the mail as I do almost every day, I found a big surprise.  In January, I had somehow lost my driver's license on a day when I was traveling.  I fortunately realized it before I started my hour-long trip to the airport, and I picked up my passport before my flight.  I had no idea where I'd lost my license, but I suspected it was in a taxi I'd taken earlier that morning.  I got a replacement license at some point and considered the original gone.  Well, look what was in my mailbox today! I wonder where it's been for the past nine months??
